Facing an onslaught of new federal clean air regulations that will affect aging coal-fired power plants in the state, Oklahoma utilities are looking at increasing their reliance on natural gas in the coming years, utility officials said Thursday at an Oklahoma Corporation Commission meeting to discuss the issue.
We once priced energy at the burning point, but new regulations are pushing the price to the smokestack," Oklahoma Energy Secretary Mike Ming said at the meeting. "We need to find a way we can most economically price those emissions.
