Major construction on the new $16 million NBA practice center is wrapping up, and Oklahoma City Thunder basketball staff moved into the building last week, nearly a year after the building was originally slated for completion.
Construction costs will come in at little more than $11 million - that's about 10 percent more than the original $10,009,000 contract Oklahoma City awarded to Tulsa-based Atlas General Contracting to build the new practice facility in 2009. However, the contract came with an additional 10-percent cushion built in, allowing construction costs to run about $1 million over the original estimated cost.

Giving back to the community is an essential part of the Oklahoma City Thunder organization.
In building the basketball team, general manager Sam Presti has made it a priority to look for community-minded players who understand the importance of civic involvement. This principle is also seen in Thunder head coach Scott Brooks, who has been a strong supporter of Special Olympics and other causes, as well as Home Court Support, an auxiliary group of the wives and significant others of Thunder players and coaches. Home Court Support focuses on helping organizations such as the Make-a-Wish Foundation and American Heart Association. In addition, the Thunder's commitment to community is also reflected in the many Thunder employees who devote their time and resources to various community-impro...

Thunder staff members worked alongside volunteers from the Junior League to collect more than 1,500 books for the Rolling Thunder Book Bus during the three-hour event. Today, more than 7,200 books have been donated. Because of the overwhelming response the Rolling Thunder Book Bus received, the team added a ...

Brian Davis is paid to talk nonstop through basketball games for two hours or longer.
Mostly. He knows that even the most ardent fan needs a few breaks between plays to digest the larger experience.

Judging from the stunned silence of Oklahoma City's locker room Saturday in FedExForum, it appeared hell had gotten to the Thunder before the high waters of the Mississippi River lapping the downtown Memphis shore did.
Forward Serge Ibaka numbed the pain of his sprained left ankle in an ice bath, reading text messages, then closing his eyes and dropping his head on his forearm.
