Creating a promotional campaign for the 15th anniversary of the Murrah Building bombing defies the textbook definition of marketing. No target audience or age-appropriate product to promote. No project or corporate goal. The world is potentially the audience - and their feelings about the event still range from sadness to anger to triumph.
OKLAHOMA CITY -- Recalling the profound impact the Oklahoma City bombing had on the nation and himself, former President Bill Clinton announced Saturday he will join a new national board to promote the mission of the Oklahoma City National Memorial and Museum. Clinton, who was president when a truck bomb tore through the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building on April 19, 1995, and killed 168 people, took a private tour of the memorial and museum and then was given an award for the support he has given the memorial.
[David Meyer] earned his Master of Fine Art degree from the University of Delaware, where he is currently an Assistant Professor in the Department of Art. Over the past two decades Meyer's work has appeared in more than 70 solo and group exhibitions across the United States. He is also the recipient of several prestigious awards, grants and commissions, most recently, a Visiting Artist residency for the Hellenic International Studies in Arts program in Paros, Greece, and public commissions for the Oklahoma Tribal Monument (1996) and the Oklahoma City Bombing Memorial (1996).
There will be no vendors pitching their wares near the Murrah Building bombing memorial Monday, nor protestors using the event as a forum to speak against the government, Oklahoma City Hall officials confirmed. All permits for temporary vendors downtown must be associated with a particular activity, said municipal spokesman Josh Ryan, and the guidelines for any such organized scheduled event must have been set by officials earlier. The 15th annual memorial recognition at the national park has no such opportunity for vendors, he said.
