OAKWOOD -- Ohio Rep. Jim Butler, R-Oakwood, discussed upcoming legislation and answered questions at the Oakwood City Council meeting Monday, Oct. 3.
Butler, who lives in Oakwood with his wife and three children, talked about how the state budget cuts have been difficult but effective, citing Standard & Poor's raising of the state's credit rating.

WASHINGTON -- Rep. Jim Jordan, who briefly toyed with challenging Sen. Sherrod Brown, D-Ohio, has endorsed Republican state Treasurer Josh Man-del for the 2012 GOP Senate nomination.
In a statement, Jordan, R-Urbana, described Man-del as a "fiscal conservative who is committed to changing the deficit culture in Washington. Josh understands that the federal government should balance its budget just like families and small businesses have to do every day.

WASHINGTON -- Seven Day-ton-area lawmakers are raising an issue about whether it was appropriate for U.S. Rep. Steve Austria to visit the Ohio General Assembly on the same day that the Ohio House took up legislation redrawing congressional districts.
The group, which includes two Washington Twp. trustees, four mayors of Dayton suburbs and former Ohio State Sen. Chuck Cur-ran, wrote in a letter to House Speaker Bill Batchelder that Austria's appearance at the General Assembly "creates the impression of undue influence and the appearance of impropriety.
