After two weeks of grammactical lapses in the written word, a number of Word Police argued -- out loud -- for a list of assaults on spoken English.
It turns out that even when we use the correct word, we mispronounce it -- and those occasions are indeed like fingernails on a chalkboard to Word Police officiers with senstitive ears.

John Roll; background checks for gun purchases
District Court Judge John Roll ruled that a portion of the Brady law violates both the Fifth and Tenth Amendments. Roll issued the ruling on a case filed by Sheriff Richard Mack regarding the responsibility of chief law enforcement officiers to conduct reasonable background checks on prospective gun buyers. National Rifle Assn. representatives lauded the ruling and referred to some points the association made before the Brady Law was ratified.
