Fred Harvey Sr. wanted his son, Fred Harvey Jr. , to wait until he took his official visit to Louisville this weekend before deciding where he wanted to continue his football career.
But after making his official visit to the University of Memphis last weekend, Harvey, a Class 6A All-State linebacker from state champion White Station, knew in his heart where he wanted to go. On Wednesday afternoon, Harvey made it official by verbally committing to the U of M. Players can begin signing letters of intent on Feb. 3.

Former Florida State linebacker Marcus Ball, younger brother of Georgia Tech quarterback Reggie Ball, attended Wednesday's University of Memphis football practices on an official visit and expects to enroll at the U of M for the fall semester.
Ball is awaiting academic clearance before he enrolls. He spent last season at nationally ranked Pearl River (Miss.) Community College and would be able to play immediately at Memphis. He would have two years of eligibility remaining.

Floyd "Pork Chop" Womack, an off-and-on starter at both tackle positions the past four seasons, is scheduled to arrive in Green Bay tonight for an official visit Friday, a National Football League source said. Womack, 26, is an unrestricted free agent who has drawn interest from several teams and is still coveted by the Seahawks.
