A senior North Korean official will visit the U.S. this week to discuss the possible resumption of long-stalled international negotiations on ending Pyongyang's nuclear programs, U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton said Sunday. The news that diplomats could be close to reviving six-nation disarmament talks that broke off in 2008 comes after more than a year of animosity and high tension between the rival Koreas and raises hopes in a region on edge.

For Taber Spani, the snow was literally the icing on the cake as she made her way to the hub of Huskymania. Spani has long been a fan of the University of Connecticut women's basketball program and the highly-touted 6-foot -1 junior guard/forward from Lee's Summit, Mo. finally made it to Connecticut for an official visit.

Ater Majok, the intriguing 6-foot-10 forward out of Australia via Sudan, will make an official recruiting visit to UConn on March 1. Majok will watch the Huskies host West Virginia at the XL Center that day. Ironically, West Virginia is one of the other schools Majok plans to visit, either shortly before or shortly after the UConn visit. He'll have one other official visit left besides that, which will probably be either to Kansas, Kentucky, UCLA or possibly Memphis. Majok has already visited Baylor and Maryland. He hopes to make his decision after making his final three visits.

BEIJING - A special train reportedly carrying North Korean leader Kim Jong-Il arrived in China early Monday for a much-anticipated visit. Kim is expected to appeal to China for economic aid and, in return, perhaps concede to return to the stalled Six-Party nuclear talks. The visit, if confirmed, would be taking place at a time of heightened tension between Pyongyang and South Korea, a key U.S. ally, following the sinking of a South Korean warship in late March, and a deepening investigation into whether North Korea was the perpetrator of that attack. North Korea's already faltering economy has also been unraveling at a potentially calamitous rate.
