The Department of Labor (DOL) is submitting the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) sponsored information collection request (ICR) titled, ``Occupational Safety and Health Act Variance Regulations,'' to the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) for review and approval for use in accordance with the Paperwork Reduction Act (PRA) of 1995 (44 U.S.C. 3501 et seq.).

Workers are protected by criminal provisions in several employment laws, including the Occupational Safety and Health Act (OSHA), Fair Labor Standards Act and section 302 of the Taft-Hartley Act, which prohibits bribery or payoff of labor organizations or employees by employers. Elements of the offense and penalties are discussed for each major type of employment-related crime. Proposed legislation that would strengthen the criminal provisions of OSHA is also discussed.
