• Winn Wants Regional Mix in Airport Agency

The City Council should consider appointing members from other cities to the Norfolk International Airport Authority board of directors, Councilman Barclay C. Winn said recently. All nine members of the authority are from Norfolk. City code allows as many as three members to be from other cities.

Airport priorities are wrong RE "RECESSION CITED in traffic dip at Norfolk Airport," Hampton Roads section, Jan 25: I find it interesting that even as traffic into Norfolk International Airport is declining, the airport authority is going ahead with plans to build a new parking garage. I park at the airport almost every week and can say with certainty I have not seen the parking garages anywhere near capacity, even during the holiday season.

HONORS AND AWARDS NCVB: The Norfolk Convention and Visitors Bureau recognized Peter G. Decker Jr. with its Tourism Works for Norfolk Award at its Celebration of Success luncheon Wednesday. The bureau cited Deckers contributions to Norfolks revitalization and his commitment to the citys tourism industry. Decker and his wife, Bess, spearheaded a fundraiser for the arts called Mermaids on Parade, featuring more than 375 mermaid sculptures to decorate the city. NORFOLK - , 59, passed away peacefully at Sentara Nursing Center of Norfolk, Wednesday, Nov. 11, 2009. Born Dec. 25, 1949, in the Philippines, he was the son of the late Crispin and Maria Corpuz. He graduated from Nueva Vizcaya High School and earned his bachelor's degree at St. Mary's College. He was a hard worker and was loyal to his employers and spent the last seven years with Norfolk Airport Authority where he shared his charming sense of humor with his fellow employees, friends and strangers.

VIRGINIA BEACH - , 52, passed away unexpectedly Saturday, May 5, 2007, at his home in Virginia Beach. Born in New York, Mr. Jarrett was retired from the Norfolk Airport Authority as a police chief. He was a born again Christian and a member of Kempsville Presbyterian Church and the Monday Mornings Men's Leadership Breakfast as well as hosted a Thursday evening Bible Study at his home. He was a state certified firearms instructor with D.C.J.S. and employed with C-2 Shooting Center as a range safety officer and instructor.
