NEW YORK, March 15, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- The last few months have produced some more cheerful economic news, with strong corporate profits, modest increases in consumer confidence and rising stock market indices. However a new Harris Poll finds no change in the steps that people are taking to save money and reduce their spending. Many people continue to economize, and there is no evidence of consumers' spending behavior being more relaxed. The recession ended many months ago, but the psychological impact of the financial and housing crisis is still very strong.

Administrators in 14 of the school districts statewide required to investigate possible irregularities on state tests have told the Department of Education they found no evidence of cheating, according to documents obtained Friday.
Ridgefield Park officials noted the inquiry led to a change in strategy: Teachers will stop telling children that if they are stuck on a question but can narrow their choices to two possible answers, they should lightly fill in both bubbles and then come back later to erase one. District officials said this practice of "double- bubbling" may have led to an unusual amount of erasures of wrong answers.

LOS ANGELES - A coroner testified Tuesday that there was no evidence that Michael Jackson gave himself the fatal dose of a powerful anesthetic that officials say killed the King of Pop.
Dr. Christopher Rogers, who conducted the autopsy on Jackson, refuted the key claim by defense lawyers for Dr. Conrad Murray that Jackson self-administered the drug when Murray briefly left the room.

Many of my liberal friends are convinced that the Republican Party has a death wish. It is sprinting to the right-most fever swamps of American life. It will end up alienating the moderate voters it needs to win elections.
There's only one problem with this theory. There is no evidence to support it. The Republican Party may be moving sharply right, but there is no data to suggest that this has hurt its electoral prospects, at least this year.

Federal prosecutors said in a court filing that they found no evidence supporting accusations of public corruption in a case that prompted them to subpoena several West Virginia state government agencies last year.
Prosecutors reviewed more than 100 conversations recorded by Clark Diehl, a Charleston business owner who alleged corrupt government practices after agreeing to plead guilty to fraud involving a state contract, the U.S. District Court filing said.

Justice Department attorneys did not commit professional misconduct or exercise poor judgment in their handling of a voter- intimidation case against the New Black Panther Party by dismissing three defendants in the case, says the department's Office of Professional Responsibility (OPR).
In a letter this week, the OPR said its seven-month inquiry "found no evidence" that the decision to dismiss the case against the New Black Panther Party and two of its members was "predicated on political considerations.
