Many have observed that the present financial crisis is a classic example of greed run amok. Other call it a crisis more of "memory" than greed, citing S & L debacle as lesson we did not learn well enough during late eighties. Some blame the rapacious lenders. Others point to the voracious borrowers. Still others blame it on irresponsible leadership. Unquestionably, greed is a constant factor in human affairs, irrespective of what we have. BANGOR - The Pine Tree Chapter of the American Red Cross is recognizing the contribution that nurses make to the work of the Red Cross as the country celebrated National Nurses Week, which coincided with the May 12 birthday of Florence Nightingale, the founder of the modern nursing profession.
During National Nurses Week, Red Cross nurses were honored by a public service announcement by Jada Pinkett Smith, lead actress in television's HawthoRNe series. The Pine Tree Chapter took part in a new recruitment and orientation for the State Nurse Liaison Network, and its Red Cross-registered nurses locally as well as nationwide wore their official Red Cross Nursing pins all week.
