The plant now converts excess waste into energy that produces steam heat for the City of Indianapolis. Prior to this transformation, the plant had been sending 4,200 tons of waste per year to landfills.   • A new research lab being opened by two Rockland County companies will bring 60 jobs to Montvale. Nice-Pak Products Inc. and its affiliate, PDI, which are based in Orangeburg, N.Y., officially opened the new Montvale site Thursday. The companies make moistened cleaning and disinfecting wipes used by health care workers and consumers. The Montvale center is the companies' first location in New Jersey, and is expected to expand to about 75 employees within the next 18 months.

  • Tobacco giant Philip Morris has filed a federal trademark infringement lawsuit stemming from the seizure of nearly 27,000 cartons of bootleg Marlboros at the Port of Los Angeles, the company announced Friday. In the lawsuit, filed Thursday in U.S. District Court in downtown Los Angeles, Philip Morris USA claims that Nice Pak Products Inc. of Orangeburg, N.Y., imported, distributed and sold counterfeit Marlboros, said Philip Morris spokesman David Sutton in a statement.

  • NORFOLK | A roughly 29-acre industrial site at 508 E. Indian River Road in Norfolk has been sold for $3.4 million to Pickle Property LLC, an investment group controlled by Edward D. Whitmore, the president of Norfolk Tug Co. The seller was T&S Associates LLC. Whitmore said Friday that he doesn't have any plans for the land yet.
