  • A four-story, 72-room Hampton Inn will be constructed just off the northbound Interstate 190 exit at Niagara Falls Boulevard in Niagara Falls, after the Niagara County Industrial Development Agency approved a tax break Wednesday. The $6.2 million, 45,000-square-foot hotel will be owned by local hotelier Ramesh Patel under the entity Falls Hotel LLC.

  • A major expansion of North Tonawanda's Taylor Devices and plans for a new boutique hotel in that city were unveiled Wednesday before the Niagara County Industrial Development Agency. Taylor Devices, a maker of industrial-strength shock absorbers, including those designed to mitigate earthquake damage, will purchase and renovate three buildings on Ironton Street, adjoining the former Roblin Steel site.

  • The Niagara County Industrial Development Agency is kicking off a new marketing effort in the new year. Former County Legislator Andrea L. You can run that risk," Henry M. Sloma said. "This is a big world, and developers can go anywhere.

  • The Niagara County Industrial Development Agency approved five property tax breaks for businesses Wednesday, including one for a $20 million expansion at Olin Corp. in Niagara Falls. Other recipients of payment-in-lieu-of-taxes arrangements were Taylor Devices and Gateway Harbor Inn, both of North Tonawanda; Mawhiney Trucking of Wilson; and Frank's Vacuum Truck Service of Niagara Falls.

  • Niagara Falls will have another Hampton Inn by next year, a local hotel magnate told the Niagara County Industrial Development Agency board this week. Ramesh Patel's application for a 10-year tax break on the 72- room, four-story hotel was accepted by the board. The IDA will hold a public hearing at a date to be announced, and a vote is expected at its next meeting, Aug. 10.

  • Olin Corp. disclosed Wednesday it intends to double bleach production at its Niagara Falls plant by making a $20 million investment in new buildings and equipment. The Niagara County Industrial Development Agency scheduled an Oct. 24 public hearing on a 15-year payment-in-lieu-of-taxes, or PILOT, arrangement for the four new buildings at Olin's Buffalo Avenue plant.

  • AES Corp., Niagara County's largest property taxpayer, received a reduction in its annual county, town and school payments Wednesday. The Niagara County Industrial Development Agency board unanimously approved the revision in a deal that AES had signed with the taxing entities only a year ago.
