NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS The club again needs depth in the secondary after the surprise release of CB Jeff Burris. The depth also has been hurt by the late arrival of rookie S GuSS Scott Don't be surprised if the team fishes the free-agent waters for help. ... Apparently not thrilled with Adrian Klemm as their first tackle off the bench, the team signed former Bear James "Big Cat" Williams. It remains to be seen how much he has left in the tank after not playing last year. ...

I appreciate Sununu, the Senator from New Hampshire. He's a huge fan of the team, as is Ed Markey and Jim McGovern, people from the mighty Massachusetts delegation. We're proud you're here. Thanks for coming. Andy Card, the Chief of Staff here at the White House, is a longtime Patriots fan. He's constantly reminding me how great the Pats are, on a Sunday by Sunday basis. And Andrew Natsios as well is a Pats fan. Obviously, we've got quite a few here.

Green Bay - If it's possible, coach Bill Belichick might be even more grim-faced than usual Sunday when his New England Patriots visit Lambeau Field to meet the Packers.

After all, it is difficult to ignore the talent at wide receiver with Randy Moss, Donte Stallworth, Wes Welker and others. Brady will certainly take his shots downfield. But let's not forget something. The Patriots are, and always have been, a power team. Don't expect them to abandon the run. While Laurence Maroney is more of a slasher than a power runner, he can pick up tough yards. The Jets were ranked 24th against the run last year and have most of the same crew back. Beyond that, look for Pats TE Ben Watson to have a big day. The Jets blitz as much or more than anyone in the NFL, and Brady will need to get rid ...

GLENDALE, Ariz. - This one is for history.
No longer can the New England Patriots ignore it. Beat the New York Giants today, and it means more than winning a fourth Super Bowl in seven years. More than reaffirming their dynasty in a sport designed to even the playing field.
