• Nevada Taxable Sales Rise 15.7 Percent

RENO, Nev. - Taxable sales in Nevada rose 15.7 percent in October over the same month a year ago, marking another month of double- digit increases that officials say show the state's economy remains strong. Statewide, merchants sold $3.5 billion in goods. Taxes collected on those sales amounted to $258 million, representing a 14.5 percent increase over collections in October 2003, according to a monthly report issued Thursday by the Nevada Department of Taxation.
