NEW YORK (HedgeWorld.com) - A new report from Merrill Lynch and Capgemini found there are more high-net-worth individuals around the world than there were a year ago, and they're increasing their investment in real estate in particular, capitalizing on the success of both commercial real estate and real estate investment trusts (REITs). The 2007 World Wealth Report, released Wednesday [June 27] uses a working definition of a high-net-worth individual as someone with net assets of at least $1 million, excluding a primary residence and consumables. The number of such folk increased 8.3% in 2006, and now stands at 9.5 million. The number of ultra-high-net-worth individuals (with a $30 million cut-off, again excluding one residence and consumables) grew by 11.3% to 94,970.
We are adopting amendments to the accredited investor standards in our rules under the Securities Act of 1933 to implement the requirements of the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act.
