American airlines are jockeying for an advantage in the U.S.- Asia market amid plans by the United States and Japanese governments to loosen decades-old limitations on airport access through an "open skies" agreement.
Continental Airlines, the top carrier at Newark Liberty International Airport, is one of several airlines that would benefit from a relaxation of these restrictions.
