Wal-Mart has opened a temporary hiring center as it gears up for the area's first Wal-Mart Neighborhood Market. The retailer is hiring about 80 people to work at the new store, slated to open in August at 665 N. Murray Blvd. The hiring center, at the Wal-Mart Supercenter at 1575 Space Center Drive, is accepting applications from 8 a.m.-noon and 1-5 p.m. Mondays through Fridays. People can also apply at any Wal-Mart store or online at http:// careers.walmart.com.
We've all known some small neighborhood market that carried limited groceries, produce, pastries, and nice cuts of meat. The prices, well, they were higher than the supermarket's but that was OK because the store was convenient and the help friendly. The Little Market & Deli, on the out-of-the-way corner of 749 E. Willamette Ave. near downtown Colorado Springs, likes to hold onto traditions.
