• Judge Tosses Mowing Dispute -- Trespass

A criminal trespass charge against a Bartlett man that stemmed from him cutting part of his neighbor's yard was dismissed after a Friday preliminary hearing. Bartlett Municipal Judge Freeman Marr ruled there was no probable cause for the charge against Lee Thomas and dismissed the accusation by Thomas' neighbor, Michael Coleman.

Four defendants accused of stealing nearly $100,000 from San Bernardino County's welfare system appeared in Superior Court on Thursday for a pretrial hearing. Former county welfare worker and Fontana resident Lynda Holman, 51, her husband Jewell Holman, 51, their son Justin Holman, 25, and Howard Turner Jr., 45, who is Justin Holman's neighbor and friend, appeared before Judge Michael A. Smith during the brief hearing.

Longtime Kenduskeag resident Michael Taylor lost just about everything he owned on New Year's Day, Saturday, Jan. 1, when a fire destroyed his trailer on Town House Road. His son, Earle Taylor of Bangor, said his father was at work at Garelick Farms in Bangor when Michael's next-door neighbor called him and told him his trailer was on fire, Earle said.
