Ware earned a city's gratitude Kudos to former Memphis City Councilwoman Barbara Swearengen Ware for a job well done. We took a group bus ride together in 1993 for the inauguration of President Bill Clinton, and Ware was appointed "Captain of the Bus." She led the entire group in a very soulful prayer each time the bus departed. She was seen then and now as a compassionate, intelligent and sincere person who was a natural leader.
