On July 20, 1969, an American government spaceship landed on the moon. Aboard the spacecraft, [Neil Armstrong] and Buzz Aldrin couldn't open the door. That's right. In the corner of the Lone Pine Golf Club pro shop in Washington County, a few folders rest above a filing cabinet. They contain paperwork for Green Hills Borough, and the small space they occupy represents Mayor Terry George's office.
Eighty miles to the northwest sits a tiny town with a big name -- Borough of Slovenska Narodna Podporna Jednota, or SNPJ. Its name stems from the Slovene National Benefit Society, which owns the recreation center that is, essentially, the community.
