PLANO, Texas, April 20 /PRNewswire/ -- Safety-Kleen announced today that it has signed agreements to become the Official Trackside environmental service provider for all drag strips owned by the National Hot Rod Association (NHRA) across the U.S.
Safety-Kleen will provide environmental services for the Gainesville (FL) Raceway, NHRA Southern Nationals at Atlanta Dragway, U.S. Nationals at O'Reilly Raceway Park in Indianapolis and the season finale, the NHRA Finals, at Auto Club Raceway at Pomona, CA.

When Larry Dixon Sr. won the 1970 NHRAWinternationals Championship in Pomona, he gathered his crew for a postrace photo.
Much to Dixon's chagrin, he was told the driver was the lone person who could be in the picture. He spotted his son, 4-year-old Larry Dixon Jr., and beckoned him to share that special moment.

WASHINGTON, Nov. 8 /U.S. Newswire/ -- The USO is sending National Hot Rod Association (NHRA) drivers to meet with wounded service members recuperating from injuries at Landstuhl Regional Medical Center in Germany Nov. 26-28. NHRA drivers visited the hospital last year on a USO tour. The tour is co-sponsored by Ramstein Air Base's 435th Services Squadron.

DINWIDDIE -- Lonnie Johnson's racing career has taken him around the country, a quarter-mile at a time, over the past three decades. After spending countless hours traveling on the road, Johnson's been able to rest comfortably these past two weeks because the National Hot Rod Association has returned to his hometown and Virginia Motorsports Park.
Born and raised in Dinwiddie, Johnson quickly realized that speed was his calling. Since 1978, Johnson has raced professionally and currently the Ettrick native races with the competition eliminator series.

Salem resident wins big at the Z Max Dragway in Charlotte
Gene Daugherty won the Super Stock category of the National Hot Rod Association Inaugural 4 Wide Nationals at the Z Max Dragway in Charlotte, North Carolina on March 29. To the lifelong Salem resident and Glenvar High School grad's surprise, his car was also featured on the April 16 cover of the National Dragster magazine.
