LONG BEACH - A panel of Hispanic speakers will address a Republican Party Town Hall Wednesday from 6-8 p.m. at the Holiday Inn at Lakewood Boulevard and Willow Street. Speakers include Teresa Hernandez, previous 32nd Congressional District candidate; Martha Flores Gibson, State Senate candidate, 27th District; Suzette Martinez, chair of the Republican National Hispanic Assembly for north Los Angeles; Tony Valle, member of RNHA; David Barron, Los Angeles council candidate; and moderator Errol Valladares.

• Hispanics Wary of Future in Party ; Immigration Stance Seen As Source of Alienation

Five years after former President George W. Bush attracted nearly half of the Hispanic vote in the 2004 presidential election, Hispanic Republicans are worrying that support for the party among Latinos is in a free fall. The mood was distinctly downbeat at times at a recent Capitol Hill gathering sponsored by the Republican National Hispanic Assembly (RHNA) on the "Future of Hispanics in the GOP." For some, the basic question was whether there was any future to discuss.
