CHESAPEAKE - Katherine Ashhurst Treherne, MD, fondly known as "Kathy," passed away July 19, 2010 after a three-year battle with lung cancer. Katherine was born June 25, 1955 in Tuskegee, Ala., to Dr. John C. Ashhurst and Mrs. Annyce Parker Ashhurst, the first child of two. She moved with her family to Nashville, Tenn., in 1965. She met her husband, Robert Treherne in the fifth grade. They eloped the day after her eighteenth birthday on June 26, 1973 and were happily married for 37 years. She attended the University of Tennessee in Knoxville with her husband. There she was a charter member of the Mu Zeta Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Inc.
