Shares of large Ohio banks with operations in Dayton sagged Monday, Sept. 29, driven by fears of a deepening credit crisis on a day of banking-industry tumult and rejection of a $700 billion rescue plan for the financial industry.
Shares of National City Corp. (NYSE: NCC) ended the Sept. 29 session at $1.36, down 63 percent. In July, the Cleveland-based bank reported that it lost $1.76 billion as it wrote down bad mortgage loans, but it also raised $7 billion from private equity investors.
