DAYTON -- After a one-year hiatus, the Dayton WineFest will return on June 4-5, this time in a new location: the Boonshoft Museum of Discovery. I'm so happy it's back. This is a win-win for Ohio wineries, the Boonshoft Museum and for the greater Dayton community," said Wanda Willis of W2 Event Solutions Inc., who served as the chief organizer of the event when she worked for the former National City Bank of Dayton. National City sponsored the event at the 2nd Street Market for the festival's first six years, but the event was canceled last year, and there was some doubt about whether it would return.

If you've lost track of your bank's name, what with all the mergers, be aware that there's another consolidation coming. It's of special significance to Dayton and Cleveland. Pittsburgh-based PNC Financial Services Group is buying National City Bank, which has 45 branches in the Dayton-Springfield area and employs 1,500 people in Miami Twp. at National City's mortgage division. PNC doesn't operate in the Dayton market, so there won't be overlap among its branches (unlike in Cincinnati, where PNC does have a presence). That's good news if you're a National City branch manager or teller.
National City to retain just 3 of 11 Provident offices DAYTON - National City Bank announced Friday that only three of 11 Provident Bank branches in the Dayton area will become National City offices next March when the merged banks fully combine operations. Among the Provident branches to close is the downtown office in the MeadWestvaco Tower on Courthouse Square.
DAYTON -- With a booming voice of a TV evangelist, Central State football coach Al West spoke with passion about the significance of the fourth annual Dayton Classic during a news conference at the downtown National City Bank on Wednesday, Aug. 27. But midway through his opening remarks, West found himself fumbling for words. I usually don't get nervous in front of people," he said, "but this is almost like it's not real.
