A high number of firefighters and residents in San Bernardino County have gone bald - a premature balding not caused nature, but by their nurturing of a cause to end childhood cancer. On March 26, more than 60 people, mostly firefighters, shaved their heads at an event that raises money and awareness for childhood cancer research.
The event, St. Baldrick's Day, is celebrated on or near St. Patrick's Day every year nationwide. Participants shave their heads for money, and the proceeds go to fund research fellowships and CureSearch National Childhood Cancer Foundation.
