Now that Murphy Oil Corp. has announced it will sell its three refineries, including one in Meraux, the company will be faced with attempting to sell them in a market where they aren't selling, according to a local energy industry analyst.
Murphy announced today it will sell refineries its in St. Bernard Parish, Superior, Wisc., and Wales after receiving "unsolicited" inquiries about the sites. The company said it wants to sell the refineries and more than 450 retail stations, which represent $1.2 billion in downstream assets, to a single buyer by the first quarter of 2011.
