"I" denotes independent and "w" a write-in candidate. "NA" denotes results not available in time for publication. Results may not include absentee ballots. Communities not listed have non-partisan forms of government or have no open seats this year.

BUTLER
Republican Joseph Heywang won the election for mayor, defeating Democrat Judith Woop, 1,685 to 1,388 votes Tuesday. He will serve out an unexpired two-year term.

A Nov. 10 runoff was assured in the District 7 City Council race, where candidates Kemba Ford and Lee Harris each got 24 percent of the vote in Thursday's municipal election.
In unofficial results reported by the Shelby County Election Commission, the two were four votes apart: Harris had 1,983 and Ford 1,979.

LITTLE FALLS
Three Democrats won council seats, knocking out Republican Councilwoman Jayme Alfano.

Voters on Tuesday opted for a veteran over two newcomers on the Borough Council. Bernard Vroom of Reeve Avenue was reelected for a one-year unexpired term. He received 759 votes, while his opponents, Republican Peter Gonzales and independent Concetta Parisi got 712 and 169 votes, respectively.
In two uncontested races for three-year seats, Thomas Marinaro and Dean Specchio, both Democrats, received 946 and 936 votes, respectively. That gives Democrats control of the six-member council.

Democrats picked up a seat on the Borough Council by sweeping Tuesday's election.
Councilwoman Patricia Kearns and former Councilman Joseph Noto defeated Councilman Nicholas Zampetti and newcomer Tricia Walters, who ran on the Republican ticket.

Voters rejected one-party rule on Tuesday, ending the Republicans' grip on the Borough Council by electing Democrats Delores Butler and Bruce Carlson to three-year terms and Democrat Dennis Mulligan to a one-year unexpired term.
Butler, who served several earlier terms on the council, received 4,876 votes, the most of all the candidates. Carlson followed with 4,761 votes, while the Republican incumbents, Rose Henn and George Williams, received 4,415 and 4,304 votes, respectively

KINNELON
Two Republicans -incumbent Steven Cobell and newcomer James Freda - won three-year Borough Council terms. They were uncontested after Democrat Christine Minett dropped out of the race.
