The Coast Guard is establishing special local regulations on the waters of the Wando River and Cooper River in Mount Pleasant, South Carolina during the Lowcountry Splash, a 2.4 mile open water swim. The event is scheduled to take place on Saturday, May 19, 2012. Approximately 600 people are expected to participate in the swim. These special local regulations are necessary to provide for the safety of life on navigable waters of the United States during the event.
