• G.O. Ride Geared Toward Helping Female Motorcyclists with Safety

More and more women are taking control of their own motorcycles, moving up from the passenger on the back seat to driver. But these women face a number of different safety issues. Female motorcyclists will team up with New York State Police for the fourth annual "G.O. [girls only] Ride" from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, 101 Old Falls Street. Registration for the free event is open to female motorcyclists, as well as those who wish to be riders from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Following registration, there will be a police-escorted ride through the city and safety tips. After the ride, there will be a co-ed party with food and music sponsored by Legends Bar and Grill, as well as vendors and informational booths.

Two racing motorcyclists crashed Saturday just off Interstate 25 in Colorado Springs after fleeing from State Patrol at speeds of more than 100 mph, authorities said. • Helmet Law Closer for Teen Motorcyclists

SPRINGFIELD - Teen motorcyclists in Illinois may soon be required to strap on helmets before hitting the road, under a proposed law that gained support Tuesday. A Senate committee approved a measure that would require motorcyclists under the age of 18 to wear a helmet, which must be fastened with a chin strap. The law, which would go into affect next year, now goes to the Senate floor for a full debate after a 6-2 vote Tuesday.

On the line of loud pipes on motorcycles: If the police officers have so much time on their hands in pulling over every motorcycle that they think is loud, maybe the motorcyclists should call the police each time a driver pulls in front or crosses the center line or throws a cigarette on him.
