  • SPRINGFIELD - Teen motorcyclists in Illinois may soon be required to strap on helmets before hitting the road, under a proposed law that gained support Tuesday. A Senate committee approved a measure that would require motorcyclists under the age of 18 to wear a helmet, which must be fastened with a chin strap. The law, which would go into affect next year, now goes to the Senate floor for a full debate after a 6-2 vote Tuesday.
