A 22-year-old Radford University student stole an SUV at gunpoint Wednesday before fatally shooting a Virginia Tech police officer and killing himself on the school's campus Thursday, police said. The student, Ross Truett Ashley, shot Officer Deriek Crouse during a traffic stop near Virginia Tech's coliseum, then walked to a parking lot known as the Cage and shot himself, Virginia State Police said late Friday.
Hume and Kant disagree about the motives involved in the performance of our duties to others. Hume thinks that natural virtues such as benevolence are best performed from "natural" motives, but that there are no natural motives for the performance of the "artificial" virtues, such as justice and fidelity to promises, which are performed from a sense of duty. This study integrated social network analysis (SNA) techniques with psychological measures to examine the interactive relationships of social network centrality and individual motive on the performance of interpersonal citizenship behavior (ICB) . Hypotheses were tested among a sample of 141 employees of a manufacturing and sales firm. Consistent with a social exchange perspective, positive pro-social and organizational concern motives were not moderated by an employee's centrality in organizational networks. Conversely, a hypothesized interaction was supported between impression management motives and network centrality on performance of ICB.
