BANGOR U.S. District Judge John Woodcock on Monday upheld a jurys October decision that awarded a Millinocket woman $200,000 in a civil lawsuit against Eastern Maine Medical Center, and he also denied the hospitals motion for a new trial. The decision is just another step in the appeal process, EMMCs lawyer said in response to Woodcocks ruling. Lorraine Morins lawyer said it affirms the jurys decision that the hospital violated the law and in so doing directly caused her to suffer personal harm.
A motion filed in Dubuque County District Court by Eddie Adams asking for an "arrest of judgment and motion for a new trial" has been denied by District Court Judge Monica Ackley. According to Ackley's denial, "The motion and addendum offer no new arguments for the court to consider that were not fully argued, researched and ruled upon at the time of trial.
