LOS ANGELES -- This year's Electronic Entertainment Expo has been quite the moving experience. During presentations at the video game industry trade show, both Microsoft and Sony debuted prototype motion-control devices for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 that could rival Nintendo's popular Wii, the first console to employ a motion-detecting controller when it debuted in 2006.
Peter Semenov of Vancouver works to manufacture motion control devices at US Digital, a Vancouver firm. US Digital engineers design its products, then send those designs to machinists who produce them in-house. High-tech in Clark County has long been synonymous with manufacturing, with more than 2,000 local jobs tied to firms involved in making parts that go into computers and other sophisticated devices.
