FORT LORAMIE -- Jared Hoying, a rookie playing for the Spokane (Wash.) Indians, recently was named Most Valuable Player of the Northwest League (Rookie A).
Hoying, a 2007 graduate of Fort Loramie High School, hit .326 this season with 75 hits including 10 home runs, 12 doubles, five triples and 50 RBIs in just 55 games. He also stole 19 bases, tying him for second in the NWL.

One of the Pittsburgh Pirates' s -- and one of the team's most valuable photographers -- star in a new exhibit at the Sen. John Heinz Pittsburgh Regional History Center.
The exhibit, "Roberto Clemente -- Photographs by Les Banos," opens Saturday and includes more than 70 pictures of the legendary player taken by Banos, former Pirates photographer and close friend of Clemente's.
