Editor's note: A chance conversation about his Mormon faith with a friend in the publishing business led to an offer for Jeff Benedict to write about "The Mormon Way of Doing Business." For his book, Benedict interviewed eight prominent CEOs who are members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The Deseret Morning News will share six short excerpts from the book on Sundays, concluding Dec. 31. For more information about the book, go online to www.jeffbenedict.com.

Two teams predicted to battle for the Atlantic Hockey Association playoff championship have met expectations. In all likelihood, this weekend's series at Cadet Ice Arena will live up to them as well.
Second-place Robert Morris (31 points) travels to third-place Air Force (30), with the second seed in the West pod on the line. Garnering the second seed gets the winner a bye into the second round and a best-of-three playoff series while the other would host Canisius or Mercyhurst in a single-elimination game March 5.

New York City needs to be ready for more frequent and stronger heat waves and deteriorating air quality because of global warming, because heat waves have serious implications for the most vulnerable among us - children, seniors, the sick and the poor," said Jackson Morris, air and energy program director with Environmental Advocates of New York. "More air pollution and oppressive temperatures will translate into an increased risk of heart attacks, strokes and asthma attacks. Attorneys from the American Civil Liberties Union argued Thursday in federal appeals court in Washington that retired Air Force Col. Morris Davis should be allowed to continue the lawsuit against the ex-supervisor who fired him.
