This regulation establishes an exemption from the requirement of a tolerance for residues of amides, C-C, N- [3-(dimethylamino)propyl]; (CAS Reg. No. 1044764-00-2) and amides, C-C, N-[3-(dimethylamino)propyl]; (CAS Reg. No. 1044764-06-8) when used as inert ingredients (surfactants) in pesticide formulations applied to growing crops and raw agricultural commodities after harvest. Monsanto Company submitted a petition to EPA under the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act (FFDCA), requesting establishment of an exemption from the requirement of a tolerance. This regulation eliminates the need to establish a maximum permissible level for residues of amides, C-C, N-[3- (dimethylamino)propyl]; (CAS Reg. No. 1044764-00-2) and amides, C-C, N-[3-(dimethylamino)propyl]; (CAS Reg. No. 1044764-06-8).

In a protracted fight over patented seeds, a federal jury found a Mississippi farm supplies business and other parties owe Monsanto $8.9 million in damages. Now, Monsanto has asked the court to increase those damages and also may request an award of legal fees and costs.
The total judgment to Monsanto could end up being more than $30 million, if the Creve Coeur-based agricultural and technology company gets its way.

HILLSDALE DISTRICT -- The Hillsdale FFA held its annual parent- member banquet on March 19 at Hillsdale High School. The banquet recognized achievements of FFA members, honored community members and included special speaker, Brittani Baldner-Hill, Ohio FFA treasurer, and a slide show of the year's events.
Andrew Baldner, son of John and Kelly Baldner, was awarded the DeKalb Leadership award, which is the school's highest agricultural honor, and is sponsored by the Monsanto Company. This award is given to an individual for excellence in academics, leadership and agricultural work experience. As the winner of the 2011 Award, Baldner's name will be recorded on a permanent plaque displayed at Hillsdale High School.

The Dow Jones industrial average closed up 52 points following a report that European leaders are considering more aggressive programs to bail out countries in the region.
Broader market indicators were mixed. The S&P 500 index rose 1 point and the Nasdaq composite edged lower. Materials and health care companies rose the most. Agricultural supplies company Monsanto Co. gained 2.8 percent; drug maker Pfizer Inc. added 2 percent.

A federal lawsuit accusing two Erie County farmers of violating a seed technology agreement was filed in error, a representative for a St. Louis agricultural biotech company said on Thursday.
Sara Miller, a spokeswoman for Monsanto, said the lawsuit filed in federal court in Pittsburgh was meant to collect money owed to Hubner Seeds "for corn, soybean and wheat products that were purchased in 2009 and 2010.

ST. LOUIS - Monsanto Co. shares jumped more than 10 percent Tuesday after the agricultural products company said earnings per share for the second quarter and for all of fiscal 2008 will be stronger than originally projected.
St. Louis-based Monsanto said its seeds and traits business will contribute more than expected to profit due to brand share growth and increased volume in the soybean business. Meanwhile, Monsanto said its Roundup and other herbicides have performed well in the second quarter, with demand exceeding supply.
