ERIE TOWNSHIP, Mich. | Two road workers jumped onto a moving school bus carrying 31 young students and steered it safely to a stop after the driver apparently suffered a medical problem.
Aaron Pierce and Ken Lambert were returning from their shift patching potholes Wednesday when they saw the Monroe Public Schools bus swerving at 5 to 10 mph. Lambert, a volunteer firefighter, had heard over his emergency radio that the bus driver had gone into diabetic shock.

Ms. Rella Mae Monroe, 64, of 414 Clinton St., Petersburg departed this life on June 10, 2006, at Southside Regional Medical Center, Petersburg. She was born on August 24, 1941, to the late Linwood R. Gee and Rosa Lee Monroe in Chesterfield County, Virginia.
Ms. Monroe attended the Chesterfield County Public Schools and later graduated from John Tyler Community College where she received an associate's degree in social work. She began working at Central State Hospital in 1967, now Southside Virginia Training Center, where she worked for 32 years until her retirement.

NORFOLK - On Aug. 12, 2006, our husband, father, grandfather, uncle, cousin and friend, retired Sgt. First Class joined his many loved ones and friends in his journey to be with his Savior. Born Nov. 8, 1916, to Lucy Peevy, he was raised in Chaudrout, La., close to the Monroe, Louisiana Parish and attended the Monroe Public Schools.
In 1940, he volunteered for military service in the U.S. Army. His duty stations took him to Germany three times, to France, England, Japan and Korea. While in military service, he served in several capacities including platoon leader, military policeman and mess sergeant. His last duty station was at Fort Story Army Base in Virginia Beach.
