The drive home on the New Jersey Turnpike at 3 a.m. was a joy- filled, smooth-sailing ride in a red Ford Explorer a world away from the death-defying, nine-hour journey to Beirut two days before. Fadi Haidar, 33, of Clifton arrived with his two children at Philadelphia International Airport on Saturday with 355 other, mostly American evacuees from Cyprus. As the three U.S. citizens walked through the sliding glass doors to the airport reception area its walls inscribed with lines from the Declaration of Independence Mohammed, 11, and Nour, 7, ran into their mother's arms.
