When we look at the data, it is plain to see that the majority of the students who have not passed the California High School Exit Exam will not receive a high school diploma and will not be allowed to participate in the graduation ceremony are in special education. Coincidence? I think not! As special education teachers, we are told to make the appropriate accommodations and modifications to allow our students access to the general ed. curriculum. I believe that the reason our students fall apart on the test is because they are unable to take the test using the same modification and accommodations that they have been using to learn and take tests for years.

This study surveyed the professional needs of a randomly chosen 125 English language teachers from Amman (1st and 2nd ) directorates of education.
