Alderson's son, Ryan, wore a red-and-blue patterned tie and a gavel lapel pin as he gave the plaintiffs' closing argument for the team from Cumberland's Allegany High School, which was facing a team from Severn High School. Atoka High School defeated Del City's Christian Heritage Academy in the final round to claim the Oklahoma High School Mock Trial Championship. Atoka will represent Oklahoma in the national competition, May 5-7 in Charlotte, N.C.
The Atoka team is a powerhouse in the Mock Trial program, said Mike Evans, president of the Oklahoma Bar Association. They've won the competition five of the last eight years. Team members demonstrated excellent presentation skills, and they will do a great job representing Oklahoma in North Carolina.
