The Loras College Mock Trial team placed 15th in the nation at the American Mock Trial Association's annual College Mock Trial National Championship in Des Moines on April 15-17.

The Rhodes College mock trial teams recently presented a plaque from Rhodes president William E. Troutt to Rhodes political science professor Marcus D. Pohlmann expressing the college's gratitude for Pohlmann's service. Pohlmann has been the college's mock trial coach for the past 25 years.
Rhodes alumna Anna Smith, who is an attorney coach for the Rhodes teams, made the presentation on campus March 25. Rhodes hosted an opening round of the 2011 American Mock Trial Association National Championship Tournament on March 25-27 at the Shelby County Courthouse.

The Loras College mock trial team will compete in the American Mock Trial Association's annual College Mock Trial National Championship in Des Moines on Friday through Sunday.
Loras was among the six teams that competed in the Opening Round Champion Series in St. Paul, Minn., in late March and advanced to the championship.

CLAREMONT - Claremont McKenna College mock trial team will be heading to Memphis, Tenn. next week to compete in the American Mock Trial Association's national championships.
The CMC team qualified for only its second national championship appearance during a regional tournament held in Irvine last month.

Having placed among the top six teams in the American Mock Trial Association's Opening Round Championship, the University of Rochester's Mock Trial Team earned a bid to the National Championship Tournament, being held this coming weekend in Memphis, Tenn.
The U of R's 17 team members, grouped into two teams, were judged on a point system for individual performances, and eight were chosen to compete at the national tournament. The team's class levels range from freshman to senior status.

DAYTON -- Fourteen teams from Montgomery County high schools competed in the Dayton Bar Association's mock trial competition Friday, Jan. 30. Only three will compete in the district competition on Feb. 20
Two of them are from the Dayton Early College Academy, a charter school that never competed in the mock trial before last year.

More than 180 undergraduate students from 19 schools across the country participated in the event, with the winners moving on to the national championship, to be held April 17-19 in Des Moines, Iowa.
Washington University placed sixth in the tournament and moves on to Des Moines. Students from the St. Louis school won seven individual awards, more than any other school.

The halls and classrooms around Yale will ring with resounding shouts of "I object!"and "Overruled!"this weekend. Yale College's Mock Trial Association is holding its 10th annual Mock Trial Tournament. Beginning Friday, the tournament will run through Saturday at 6:30 p.m., when the championship round will be argued.
Each year, the American Mock Trial Association releases one case to be used for competitions like this,"said Benjamin Felt, a Yale junior and tournament director. "This year, the case involves a child kidnapping by a family's best friend

Robert A. Alderson experienced deja vu while attending the state finals of the Maryland State Bar Association's mock trial competition.
Alderson's son, Ryan, wore a red-and-blue patterned tie and a gavel lapel pin as he gave the plaintiffs' closing argument for the team from Cumberland's Allegany High School, which was facing a team from Severn High School. Two years earlier, Alderson's other son, Chris, wore a red-and-blue patterned tie and a gavel lapel pin as he gave the plaintiffs' closing argument for Allegany, which was facing Severn in the finals.
