Moonachie officials say state guidelines regulating the placement of fire hydrants at older mobile home parks hampers its ability to enforce the construction of fire hydrants at its two mobile home parks, jeopardizing the safety of residents.
The complaint comes after a blaze erupted through the 233-unit Metropolitan Associates Ltd. last month, destroying three homes, damaging a fourth and displacing residents. There are no fire hydrants within the site.
