  • Fans of professional bull riding will want to arrive early for a close-up view of the action at this year's Lander's Dodge Bull-O- Rama presented by The Rebel 95.3 FM and Big Delta Powersports at Northwest Mississippi Community College's Multipurpose Arena on September 17 at 7:30 p.m. Admission is $10 at the door or $8 in advance.   • The upcoming Northwest Mississippi Community College art exhibition will feature works by Cetin Oguz, an art instructor at Delta State University in Cleveland. The exhibition will run Monday through Oct. 29 at the Northwest Art Gallery on the Senatobia campus. An opening reception will be 6-8 p.m. Thursday . Oguz was born in Istanbul, Turkey. He grew up in Bebek, a historic fishing village on the shores of the Bosporus Strait. He became interested in art at the age of 4. He enjoyed illustrating animal figures from encyclopedias and drawing from observation. At the age of 9 , he was introduced to swimming.   • The practical nursing class at Northwest Mississippi Community College's Senatobia campus attended a conference at Delta State University on March 4. The conference was conducted by the State Board of Nursing and provided information to students and licensed nurses regarding the function of the board, functions of the licensed nurse, discipline, investigations and licensure. The students brought back a vast knowledge of their responsibilities of practice, discipline and legal aspects of nursing, according to instructor Jennifer Davis. Those in attendance included:

  • Northwest Mississippi Community College Delta Epsilon Chi (DEX) students from DeSoto Center in Southaven attended the Collegiate Leadership Academy in New York City recently. "Where Today's Students Become Tomorrow's Leaders" was the theme of the 2008 program. Attendees were broken down into case-study teams and through defined company visits, corporate leader interviews, and behind-the- scene tours, had all their questions answered regarding the latest industry information. On the final day of the conference, the teams presented their case-study solutions to a panel of industry leaders and the National Advisory Board.

  • The Northwest Mississippi Community College Chapter of Delta Epsilon Chi had an exciting and successful fall 2007 semester. From bake sales to Toys for Tots, our chapter put into action this year's theme of "Experiencing the Difference! Our first big event was the Fall Leadership Conference in Raymond. While there, we practiced our role-playing skills and enjoyed networking with other fellow members.
