The Los Angeles Lakers announced today that East West Bank is a new sponsor for the 2007-08 season. Graham's Lighting will host an opening reception on Sept. 18 , from 6 to 8 p.m., to celebrate the third Graham's Designer Showcase Windows, an ongoing program that brings design professionals together to raise money for the Safety Net Collaborative agencies. Roland Gerhardt and Stan Moser will collaborate to design the third Windows at 550 South Cooper, and Graham's chose Church Health Center as the third Collaborative beneficiary. The Safety Net Collaborative agencies are charities that focus on meeting the basic human needs of facing economic hardship. MIFA and Memphis Union Mission have both been Windows recipients. Salvation Army, Memphis Food Bank and Christ Community Medical Clinic have also signed on to take their turns as beneficiary.
A mission was assigned by a bank that felt its security was impenetrable, but wanted to test it. The mission posed to the Penetration Tester by the client was to enter the disaster recovery room where the servers were located and "steal" data from those servers. Part one of the mission was a success. The tester was now inside a room that policies and procedures noted only three staff members were allowed to access. The Penetration Tester now had what he needed and thanked the branch manager for his time. Most of the food distributed to families in need is supplied by government-supported programs or donated by the nation's food banks and a network of more than 58,000 agencies and 100,000 charitable programs. Gleaners Community Food Bank, Inner City Sub Center and Bright Morning Star Outreach Mission are among them. While providing a worthwhile service, these programs are successful only to the point that they receive public exposure and earn the trust and support of the population they serve. That is one of the major purposes of National Hunger Awareness Day. One way to ensure that we reach the goal of a hunger-free America is to increase the awareness that domestic hunger is a real and growing problem.
