Central Missouri's football team had such a good time on its last trip to Topeka, the Mules are ready for a return visit.
Central Missouri knocked off Washburn in an MIAA game Saturday and Monday accepted an invitation to the third annual Kanza Bowl. The Mules will play West Texas A&M at 1 p.m. Nov. 27 at Hummer Sports Park.

After years of mediocrity, at best, Washburn's football program has reached the stage where conference championships and postseason berths are more than idle chatter.
The Ichabods have posted six straight winning seasons for the first time in school history, played in the Mineral Water Bowl in 2004, won the MIAA championship in 2005 and reached the NCAA Division II playoffs in 2005 and '07.

With a month to prepare for the Mineral Water Bowl, Washburn football coach Craig Schurig cut practice short by a day.
The Ichabods concluded the regular season on Nov. 6 and Schurig planned two weeks of fundamental practices, then had Monday slated to begin gameplan preparation to face Northern State on Dec. 4.
