The Louisiana Mineral and Energy Board collected $1.9 million for the December sale of mineral rights on state and local government- owned land last Wednesday, up from $1.5 million in leases sold in November.
The board awarded 19 leases covering 4,040 acres out of 38 nominated tracts covering more than 55,077 acres. As in the November sale, the majority of bids were for inland tracts of land spread across the state, though much of the big spending focused on Plaquemines Parish.
