Missouri added some size to its roster yesterday when Mineral Area College sophomore Darryl Butterfield signed a letter of intent to play with the Tigers in basketball Coach Mike Anderson's inaugural season.
Former Tiger Corey Tate, who coached Butterfield at the school in Park Hills, confirmed the signing, but there has been no official announcement from MU.

LINCOLN, Neb. - The Missouri basketball team got a much-needed offensive spark from backup forward Darryl Butterfield to stay close in yesterday's 82-77 overtime loss to Nebraska at the Bob Devaney Sports Center.
The 6-foot-7 transfer from Mineral Area College scored a career- high 13 points and also grabbed four rebounds. He was 6 for 8 from the field in 21 minutes.

BLOOMINGTON -- Lorenzo Gordon made his impact felt all year on the Illinois State basketball team.
The 6-foot-6 junior college transfer from Mineral Area (Mo.) Community College finished the season as the team's leading scorer (16.3) and rebounder (6.5) in his first year at ISU. The senior-to- be also was named first-team all-Missouri Valley Conference and the league's Newcomer of the Year.

Point guard David Bryant filled a need for the University of Southern Indiana men's basketball team when he signed a national letter of intent this week.
The Eagles also filled a need for Bryant, who will transfer from Mineral Area College in Park Hills, Mo., and have two years of eligibility with USI.
