The suspended head of Bath Iron Works' largest union sent a seven- page rebuttal letter to the president of the International Association of Machinists & Aerospace Workers Wednesday, describing various allegations made by the parent union as "completely absurd," "absolutely false," and "outright lies.
Charges that computers belonging to Local S6 contained "young children in suggestive poses," as described in a letter sent to BIW union members, are "horrific," according to the letter from Mike Keenan.

Mike Keenan, at age 62, still again in the NHL. But Keenan, who coached eight teams from 1984-2009, including the Rangers to the Stanley Cup in 1994, isn't sure he'll get another chance.
Keenan said the trend in the NHL is toward younger coaches.

CHICAGO (AP) - A parking lot now sits where the "Madhouse on Madison" once rested, the venerable Chicago Stadium and it's earsplitting confines. It's where Mike Keenan once roamed behind the Blackhawks' bench.
His stint as coach from 1988-92 produced 60 playoff games, 33 postseason victories and a trip to the Stanley Cup finals in 1992.

BATH - Bath Iron Works is laying off 73 workers as the shipyard prepares for an approaching workload gap while the Arleigh Burke program wraps up and production of the next-generation Zumwalt destroyer ramps up.
Local S6 President Mike Keenan said Friday that the shipbuilders have done their part to reduce costs. Now it's up to Maine's congressional delegation and the shipyard to do their part to keep the contracts coming, he said.

Active Stanley Cup-winning coaches. Glen Sather's resignation from the Rangers' coaching duties last week and Mike Keenan's firing by the Panthers earlier this season cut two from the list. Of the remaining five, only one is still with his championship team: Pat Burns, who coached the Devils to the Cup last spring.

A small swath of New Orleans just turned black and gold.
The Steelers selected wide receiver Mike Wallace of Ole Miss and cornerback Keenan Lewis of Oregon State, teammates at O.P. Walker High School in the Big Easy, within a dozen picks of each other Sunday.

Star goalie Roberte Luongo, who was traded to the Canucks by [Mike Keenan] in 2006 when he was the G.M. of the Panthers, says Keenan belittled him on a late-night flight in front of teammates for refusing to sign a long-term contract. Luongo called the confrontation "another nail in the coffin" for Keenan, who indeed was fired, forced out or quit the Panthers on the eve of the 2006-07 season.

Mike Keenan can survive anything. Panthers owner Alan Cohen changed his mind and decided what he really wanted was Keenan instead of Rick Dudley. In that light, firing Dudley and hiring Keenan and coach Jacques Martin makes sense. It also makes the Panthers an immediate playoff contender. The question is, how good of a G.M. is Keenan? His track record as a manager is spotty, as witnessed by tenures in Chicago and St. Louis.
