Dearborn is proud to pay tribute to our fallen heroes on Memorial Day, and to remember all those veterans who have given of themselves through their service to their country," said Mayor Michael A. Guido. "This year's grand marshals are a unique combination of distinguished men and women who well represent the spirit of our service men and women of every branch.
"I think it's a great honor being asked to participate in such an important event in Dearborn," he said, noting the significance of Dearborn's parade throughout the country. "Memorial Day is one day in the year when we should give serious thought to all the sacrifices that have been made by our country's armed forces and continue to be made today."

LANSING, Mich., Oct. 20 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The following statement was released today by the American Legion, Department of Michigan:
No subject for consideration today is more timely or of greater importance than that of the returning veteran. The multitude of problems arising from this subject are already pressing for attention. Post Traumatic Stress Disorder & Traumatic Brain Injury being just two. These problems will grow in scope and intensity as we continue to prosecute our already ten year war against terror and a fanatical enemy. They will inevitably rise to a challenging peak when the war is concluded, win or lose. I ask all Seven Hundred & Twenty Thousand Michigan Veterans to join me in a common insistence that Michigan's obligation to her sons and daughters returning ...
